Wonderful
A fantastic experience in staying in a troglodyte room, the views out onto the Loire were also a delight. Marc Bredif is also next door so provides the perfect opportunity for a tour and wine tasting before walking back to our room. We ate at the hotel one evening and the food was excellent, as was the continental breakfast in the morning.

Unique property, beautiful location, friendly staff that could be more attentive to guests at meals.
Les Hautes Roches is a beautiful property, with a wonderful view on the Loire and a unique setting, built into the rock that is typical in the area. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and very willing to solve problems when they come up. The pool area is small but nice and you can order drinks to be brought to you there.
Unfortunately, the rooms were not air conditioned and it was extremely hot during our visit ... sleeping in the room was a challenge but the staff provided a fan for us to use during our stay. We had breakfast at the hotel every day and a celebratory dinner on one of the evenings. The quality/presentation of the food was very good. The staff could be much more attentive to guests at the restaurant - check on them more often to be sure they have what they need. We frequently ran out of coffee or water and had to search for a server to request more. For a property of this caliber, our expectations were a bit higher. The hotel is located in a very small town, with not too many alternative places to eat close by.

Location.
Room (15) was noisy and subject to loud vibrations from the adjacent space. Door frame height at foot of stairwell without warning causing me (6ft 2inches) to crack my head on the door frame and hurt myself.
